Summers Brings Extensive User Research Expertise to GSI

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Sept. 9, 2008 – Nick Pahade, president of gsi interactive(sm),
a division of GSI Commerce Inc. (Nasdaq: GSIC), announced today that Michael Summers
has joined the company as senior director of usability and a member of gsi
interactive’s leadership team. In this role, Summers is responsible for building and
leading gsi interactive’s usability practice. Summers will report directly to
Pahade. gsi interactive, with comprehensive digital marketing and design offerings,
and e-Dialog Inc., a leading e-mail service provider, comprise GSI’s interactive
marketing services division.

As senior director of usability, Summers will develop user research service
offerings, engage GSI partners in usability activities, and lead gsi interactive’s
state-of-the-art eyetracking lab. gsi interactive provides a comprehensive suite of
interactive marketing and design solutions that helps GSI partners drive significant
revenue across multiple channels. Its services include strategic interactive
marketing programs, emerging media, user experience and design, in-house
photography, product content development, and catalog services.

Prior to gsi interactive, Summers held key user research roles at Nielsen Norman
Group, Scient, and USWeb/CKS. Most recently, Summers built his own successful user
research consultancy where he conducted user research studies throughout the United
States, Europe, and Asia for clients like Time Warner-AOL, Avenue A/Razorfish, AT&T,
AstraZeneca, Digitas, and the National Council on Aging.

Summers holds a masters from Syracuse University, and has been invited to speak
about how user research improves products to the American Center for Design (ACD),
the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the Association for Computing
Machinery\'s special interest group in Computer-Human Interaction (SIG-CHI), and the
Usability Professional\'s Association (UPA). Along with several journal publications,
Summers also has co-authored a university textbook called Creating Websites that
Work that includes chapters on understanding people before prototyping begins, and
the value of iterative user testing.
